The Dichroic Process

“Dichroic” is another word for iridescent/colour shifting material.
The dichroic glitter films are layered with clear and/or tinted resin over the course of 2 or 3 layers, to create the opalescent effect.

I avoid using UV resin, so each layer must cure for 24 hours before I can add the next – sometimes a piece can take up to 4 days before it is ready to be wrapped and set.
Why Resin?: To my knowledge, this effect can’t be recreated exactly with glass, and natural stone is prohibitively expensive and rare.

As it is a hand made piece, it may contain bubbles and slight flaws – this is normal and confirms you are not purchasing a mass-produced item from a factory.
The cabochons are hand poured, and then wrapped in a variety of different methods.

Since there is no welding or forging, it is important to avoid handling your piece roughly – even though great care has been taken to make the binding as secure as possible, it is possible that the piece can become misshapen or unravel accidentally.

You have my personal guarantee that should the piece become unravelled within 30 days of normal wear, I will re-wrap the item free of charge.

With this purchase, know that you are supporting me as a Canadian artist to grow and expand my crafting skills and that I strive to craft pieces that are impactful, yet beautiful and elegant at the same time.
